Milan Summer Festival
22 Aug - 24 Aug
Festivals
The cross-border and multicultural festival bridges our country's atmospheric cultures, from Dutch to Hindustani, Caribbean to Indian.
A melting pot of culture, music and taste
The event has taken place in the Zuiderpark in The Hague for many years and surprises every year with programming that responds to trends in the culinary world, music, dance, art, sports and health care. For instance, there is an international cooking contest, a current music line-up, a programme for the little ones and space for sports and games. The festival ends with a thunderous fireworks show.
Diverse programme: from culinary to art
During the Milan Summer Festival, people and cultures meet. Each stage has its own identity, with different acts of music and dance and a diverse programme of literature and art. Tasty food takes centre stage. Exotic food stands with dishes from different cultures, including Surinamese, Indian, Indonesian and BBQ, guarantee a culinary journey around the world. Visitors will learn to make their own curry during a workshop by the Indian Curry Club and there will also be a food contest, in which chefs from different cultural backgrounds will compete to make the ‘Best Curry in the Netherlands’.
Young and old, everyone healthy
A special interactive and educational programme for children between four and 12 years of age has also been organised, with parents also welcome. Adjacent to the festival area is space for sports and games, which this year traditionally includes the Milan Run (5 km). An annual theme of the summer festival is Health & Wellbeing. This includes the Health Square, where health and welfare institutions inform visitors in a targeted and personalised way about a healthy lifestyle, well-being & nutrition and various conditions. The square also offers free blood pressure checks.
Meeting and discovery for all
